Bespoke 1919 Sullivan Williams & Co Savile Row Dark Green Tailcoat 36”
Condition - considering this garment is 107 years old, its in impressively good shape. No moth holes or damage, some wear around button hole and can see some slight colour change from where the lapels fold down in position. The pit lining is in good condition with no major tears or popped stitching.
Incredibly rare piece
Not your usual tailcoat, instead its in a dark green and the lapels the same colour. Possibly just more of a bespoke daytime tailcoat rather than a formal evening tailcoat.
Sullivan, Williams & Co. were established Savile Row tailors.
The historic No. 12 Savile Row address has subsequently been associated with some notable names in British tailoring, including Scabal and the celebrated bespoke house Chittleborough & Morgan, which continues to operate from the address today.
An increasingly rare surviving example of London’s bespoke tailoring heritage, over a century old and a fascinating addition to any collection of vintage menswear, British tailoring or historical costume.
